Big Story! SPA Hadijah Namyalo Hosts Grand Eid Feast, Storms Lugogo for Eid Cup Showdown

Wakiso/Kampala – The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC-NRM), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, hosted a grand Eid Mubarak feast at her residence in Ndejje, Wakiso District, before heading to the highly anticipated Eid Cup tournament at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The Eid celebrations, held on Sunday, March, 30, 2025, brought together her staff, close friends, and family in a vibrant gathering that marked the end of Ramadan. Among the distinguished guests were renowned Ugandan singer Naava Grey and veteran media personality Miles Rwamiti.

In her remarks, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of togetherness, unity, and spiritual reflection after the fasting month.

“Eid is a time to reflect on the lessons of Ramadan, to give thanks to Allah for His guidance, and to share the blessings of this holy month with those close to us. Let us carry the spirit of Eid throughout the year, striving for unity, peace, and shared prosperity,” she said.

She also took the opportunity to appreciate the dedication of her staff, stressing that such gatherings strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity—values crucial for both professional and community progress.

As Uganda gears up for the 2026 general elections, Namyalo urged Muslims to maintain the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and kindness, urging them to serve as ambassadors of peace.

“Ramadan has taught us patience, sacrifice, and kindness. Let us continue to exhibit these virtues beyond this holy month. As we approach the election season, I implore you all to be ambassadors of peace and promote harmony within your communities,” she added.

Known for her unwavering loyalty to President Yoweri Museveni, Hajjat Namyalo also used the event to rally support for the NRM National Chairman and presidential flag-bearer ahead of the 2026 elections.

“President Museveni has tirelessly worked for the stability and progress of our country. I call upon all of you to vote and campaign overwhelmingly for him in the upcoming elections. Let’s continue supporting the efforts that bring development and unity to Uganda,” she passionately stated.

During the event, Namyalo also raised concerns over the increasing risks of HIV/AIDS, particularly in light of dwindling foreign aid for health programs.

She warned that cuts in USAID funding—following policy changes under the new Trump administration—had significantly affected HIV/AIDS interventions in Uganda.

“HIV/AIDS is still here with us. The unfortunate reality is that funding from USAID and other international donors has drastically reduced. Therefore, we must take personal responsibility to protect ourselves. I urge you, the Bazzukulu, to be cautious and prioritize your health first. Prevention is better than cure,” she warned.

Singer Naava Grey praised Namyalo for her dedication to Ugandans’ welfare, stating, “Hajjat is sincere and supportive to Ugandans irrespective of their political affiliations. Her soul is pure.”

Later in the evening, Hajjat Namyalo, accompanied by her media personnel and supporters, attended the Eid Cup tournament at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. Now in its second edition, the event drew a distinguished crowd, including Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, and Sudan’s Ambassador to Uganda, Ahmed Ibrahim.

The Eid Cup, one of Uganda’s most anticipated post-Ramadan sporting events, promotes brotherhood, culture, and friendly competition.

The tournament featured ten teams representing various sectors, including the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Parliament of Uganda, Uganda Police, media personalities, Sheikhs, Imams, digital media representatives, Hajjis, and corporate organizations.

The competition culminated in a grand awards ceremony, where the top teams were recognized with trophies, medals, and cash prizes.

The overall champions received UGX 3,000,000, while the second and third-placed teams took home UGX 2,000,000 and UGX 1,000,000, respectively.

Hajjat Namyalo’s presence at the tournament highlighted her continued engagement with Ugandans, particularly the youth, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and national unity.

As the Eid celebrations came to a close, the festivities reflected a broader message of togetherness, faith, and progress—values that Namyalo continues to champion through her work at the ONC-NRM.
