Kampala, Uganda: The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Uzeiye Hadijah Namyalo, has urged graduates of Nabisunsa Girls’ School to remain grounded in Islamic values and focused on their dreams as they step into the next chapter of their academic and personal journeys.

Addressing the Class of 2024 at Nabisunsa’s 4th Idaad Graduation on Friday, April 25, Hajjat Namyalo, who graced the function as the Special Guest, praised the school as a “holy place” that shaped her into the leader she is today.

Hajjat offered heartfelt gratitude to her former teachers and peers, describing the graduation as a significant milestone in the lives of the young theologians.

“I congratulate the theologians upon this great milestone. You have received a permanent blessing that will guide your lives with wisdom and light. Outside there, life is not easy, but your faith and knowledge will be your anchor,” she remarked.

Recalling her days at Nabisunsa, Namyalo shared a vivid memory of a basketball final against Namagunga, which she helped win with the backing of her teachers and teammates.

She urged the graduates, especially the young women, to resist societal pressures that might derail their dreams.

“The world outside is tough and often unforgiving. Men may take advantage of you, but remember, your education and faith are your shield. Value your books more than the temptations of fleeting pleasures,” she cautioned. “Yes, marriage is a necessity and compulsory, but it shouldn’t rush you into abandoning your dreams. Your education is your crown.”

The Deputy Headteacher of Nabisunsa, Hajj Kimera Badru, commended the students for their endurance and discipline during their four-year theological journey.

“You are now graduates. Thank you for agreeing to be taught during your precious time. But remember, after acquiring this knowledge, you must not sit on it. Go and teach, discipline, and lead by example,” he remarked.

Hajj Kimera further encouraged the graduates to aim higher. “The sky is the limit,” he said, noting that the Idaad Theology program, introduced in 2019, had weathered disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic to produce resilient scholars.

Nazma Aisha Muhammad, the best overall candidate in Idaad 2024 at Nabisunsa, was awarded a full bursary for her second term worth UGX 1,908,000, handed over by the Headteacher, Hajjat Zulaika Nabukeera Kabuye.

Adding to the Headteacher’s reward, Hajjat Namyalo awarded $200 to Nazma, while the Office Administrator at ONC, Dr. Mariam Nakimuli, presented a Shs500,000 cash reward to the second-best performer, Namaganda Joweria Lukwago.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan and Special Envoy to Qatar, Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, who presided over the graduation as the Chief Guest, congratulated the 20 graduates for balancing secular and theological studies, describing the top student, Nazma, as a “golden girl.”

“Let your education guide your actions, shape your values, and uplift others,” he said, quoting the Qur’an as he emphasized the spiritual importance of seeking knowledge.

Dr Ssemuddu also handed over UGX 2.9 million, with UGX 1 million going to the top student and UGX 100,000 to each of the 19 others.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has called on political leaders to embrace peace and reject violence as the country prepares for the 2026 general elections.

Dr. Kaziimba appealed during Easter carols and Holy Communion prayers held at Parliament on Thursday, 10 April 2025. The solemn service was attended by members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, and members of the public.

Referencing the recent by-election in Kawempe Division North, which was marred by violence, Dr. Kaziimba urged politicians to rise above division and hostility. He emphasised the importance of mutual respect across political lines and condemned the growing trend of character assassination during electoral campaigns.

“Respect for one another should be promoted and character assassination eradicated,” he said. “Even if you are from different political parties, you are still one. A good leader uses every issue to ensure that everyone emerges victorious at the end of a debate.”

As the country inches closer to another electoral season, the archbishop encouraged leaders to place their trust in God and remain hopeful in the face of political pressure. Drawing a parallel with the life and persecution of Jesus Christ, he reminded the congregation that politics has long been intertwined with matters of faith and justice.

“Politics has been in existence since the time of Christ, and his death was politically motivated. His resurrection, however, teaches us that there is always hope. As Christians, we should never lose that hope,” he said.

Representing the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, Government Chief Whip Hon. Hamson Obua echoed the Archbishop’s message. He urged Christians to focus on their life’s journey not just by how it begins, but by how it ends.

“The last three days of Christ were characterised by anguish and agony; he was mocked, but in the end, he overcame all through resurrection,” Obua said. “In all we do, it is not the start that matters—it is the end that matters.”

He also expressed gratitude for the growth of the Christian fellowship within Parliament, praising the leadership of the Anglican chaplain, Rev. Gillian Okello, for nurturing the spiritual well-being of the institution.

The Easter service concluded with prayers for national unity, wisdom for leaders, and a peaceful electoral season ahead.

The holy month of Ramadan and the International Quds Day is one of the suitable opportunities to address the issue of Palestine, which Muslims should appreciate with their conscientiousness and take steps towards solving this issue. For more than 70 years, the Zionist terrorist and child-killing regime has been harassing the souls of Muslims around the world by usurping the land, destroying homes and killing the oppressed people of Palestine.

In the meantime, the tyrannical and arrogant American government and some of its unwilling and puppet European governments, with their military, political and media support of barbaric Zionist regime, revealed their true face and proved that words like Human rights, women’s and children’s rights, democracy, etc. have no real use and are only a tool in their hands to achieve their political goals and sell their military weapons to this beastly regime. Possession of one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world by the Zionist regime and keeping hundreds or thousands of nuclear weapons and mass killings there is proof of this claim. Weapons that are kept in the warehouses of this criminal regime not only confront the oppressed people of Palestine, but also dominate the Islamic world and the Middle East region.

You have certainly seen or heard the brutality of this regime many times in the past six months in news agencies and media. Genocide and the killing of about 62,000 people and the wounding of about 114,000 people, most of whom are Palestinian women and children, the killing of about 210 journalists, the killing of about 280 UN employees, the attack on hospitals and their destruction and the killing of patients, the attack on Schools and their destruction and the killing of students,Attacking and killing war refugees’ tents, and recently the attack on diplomatic and political places and their destruction and the killing of diplomats, are only a part of the crimes of this. The diet is wild and animalistic.

Of course, the resistance and standing of the Palestinian people and the failures of the Zionist regime in the past six months is a divine and praiseworthy phenomenon. The fact that the Zionist regime is killing women and children with all its military equipment and the support of the world’s oppressive powers shows that this regime is not able to deal with the resistance forces and defeat them.

The unity and brotherhood of Muslims and knowing the enemy and confronting his plans, is a basic solution to solve the problems of Muslims, and at the top of them is the issue of Palestine. Strengthening the spirit of brotherhood and empathy among Muslims in defense of the cause of Palestine is the main goal of Imam Khomeini in naming the International Quds Day. According to the verses of the Qur’an and hadiths and narrations from the Holy Prophet and the infallible imams; Confronting the oppressor and defending the oppressed are part of the inherent duties of every Muslim. Here it is necessary to express my appreciation and thanks to all nations and governments that defended the oppressed people of Palestine with their various political, economic, legal and military means.

The government of South Africa, which itself was under apartheid for many years and was freed from that problem by the efforts of great people like Nelson Mandela, by suing the Zionist regime and condemning it in the International Court of Justice, has given itself a golden leaf in the history of the world. The government of Yemen, with all its courage, prevented these ships from reaching their destination in the Red Sea with the aim of putting the ships carrying weapons and ammunition, fuel and other needs of the Zionist regime in the Red Sea. The resistance groups in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen who selflessly inflicted deadly blows on the body of this fake regime. Here, I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to all of them, of course, the real appreciation and thanks will be given to them by the Almighty God.

At the end of my speech, while honoring the memory of all Palestinian martyrs and resistance groups, I wish them the highest degrees and companionship with the Holy Prophet and the infallible imams in heaven.

KAMPALA – The Office of the National Chairman – NRM (ONC-NRM) has extended heartfelt appreciation to all those who took part in Uganda’s first-ever Street Iftar, a groundbreaking event held on Thursday March 20, 2025, along Buganda Road in the heart of Kampala.

The Iftar dinner, organized under the leadership of Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, brought together thousands of people from different backgrounds to break their fast in a remarkable display of unity, faith, and generosity.

The event, which stretched from Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) to Watoto Church, transformed the street into a communal hub where Muslims and well-wishers shared meals and prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement released on Friday, March 21, 2025, ONC’s Public Relations Officer Moses Kintu extended gratitude to all attendees, including political supporters from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), National Unity Platform (NUP), Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of companies, movement cadres, and security forces whose efforts ensured a successful and peaceful gathering.

“Your presence and support made the event truly special. Jointly, we celebrated our shared values and commitment to unity. Your dedication to community and partnership is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration,” Kintu noted.

Hajjat Namyalo, who personally served meals to attendees, reiterated the significance of the event in fostering togetherness and supporting the less privileged.

She praised President Yoweri Museveni for allowing such an unprecedented gathering in the city center, emphasizing that it reflected the harmony and inclusivity the President promotes.

“We thank President Museveni for his continuous support of the Muslim community. The fact that we were able to hold an iftar of this scale in the heart of Kampala is proof of his commitment to unity,” she said.

She also noted that some individuals mislead the President instead of advocating for ordinary Ugandans (okusakira omuntu wawansi) and urged the Muslim community to rally behind him in the upcoming elections.

The event saw speeches from key religious and political figures, including Wakiso District Kadhi Sheikh Erias Kigozi, who praised President Museveni for safeguarding Muslim property rights and establishing Salaam Bank in line with Muslim laws.

He also commended the reappointment of Muslim leaders in government, calling it a sign of the President’s recognition of the community’s contributions.

Beyond the spiritual significance, the event showcased the ONC’s growing grassroots influence, with many young attendees—some previously affiliated with opposition parties—expressing appreciation for the initiative.

“This iftar has shown that NRM cares for the people. If this is what they stand for, then we need to listen more,” remarked Hassan Kirya, an attendee who left with a full plate of pilau.

The night ended with prayers, Quran recitations, and a renewed sense of unity among attendees. With the success of this inaugural Street Iftar, many now hope it will become an annual tradition, further strengthening the spirit of togetherness and inclusivity in Uganda.

KAMPALA – A historic moment unfolded in Uganda’s capital as thousands of Muslims and well-wishers gathered along Buganda Road for the country’s first-ever Street Iftar.

Organized by President Museveni’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC-NRM) under the leadership of Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs (SPA/PA) Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the event transcended religious, social, and political lines, bringing together people from all walks of life in a rare display of unity and faith.

By early afternoon, crowds had already begun assembling, filling the stretch from Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) to Watoto Church/Senana Supermarket.

Volunteers busied themselves arranging long rows of tables, preparing food, and ensuring everything was set for the grand communal meal.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the street, usually filled with the sounds of city life, was transformed into a space of reflection, prayer, and shared humanity.

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, affectionately known as Museveni’s Chief Muzzukulu, led the event with a hands-on approach, personally serving attendees with fruits, juice, and pilau as they broke their fast.

Expressing her gratitude for the massive turnout, she emphasized that the event was not just about sharing a meal but about strengthening faith and fostering a spirit of giving.

She thanked President Museveni for his continued support of the Muslim community, citing the establishment of Salaam Bank as evidence of his commitment to economic empowerment.

She also acknowledged the President for allowing Muslims to hold this historic Street Iftar in the heart of the city, describing it as a testament to religious harmony and a sign that the President values the Muslim community.

However, she noted that some individuals who engage with the President often mislead him instead of advocating for the common Ugandan, or as she put it, okusakira omuntu wawansi (working for the ordinary citizen).

She called upon the Muslim community to support President Museveni in the upcoming elections, emphasizing his track record of fostering development and inclusivity.

Sheikh Erias Kigozi, the Wakiso District Kadhi, hailed the President as a hero and visionary leader, applauding him for safeguarding Muslim property rights and ensuring the appointment of Muslims to influential government positions.

He expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to hold an Iftar on a public street, calling it a major step forward for the Muslim community. He further thanked the government for protecting Muslim assets and facilitating the establishment of Salaam Bank, which operates under Sharia law.

Adding his voice to the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Abdallah Kitimbo commended the discipline and organization exhibited during the event.

He urged Muslims to carry the values of Ramadan—patience, kindness, and discipline—into their daily lives, emphasizing that these virtues should extend beyond the holy month.

The atmosphere was enriched with Quran recitations, inspirational sermons, and Mataali performances, deepening the spiritual significance of the event.

SSP Abdallah Kitimbo commended the discipline and organization exhibited during the event.

Attendees from different backgrounds expressed their gratitude, with many describing the gathering as groundbreaking. Even individuals from traditionally opposition-leaning groups acknowledged the importance of such initiatives, with some stating that the NRM’s outreach efforts had changed their perception of the government.

The event not only highlighted the spirit of Ramadan but also served as a powerful tool for grassroots mobilization.

With the 2026 elections approaching, the Street Iftar further solidified Hajjat Namyalo’s growing influence as President Museveni’s key political mobilizer. Many attendees expressed hopes that this initiative would become an annual tradition, symbolizing a future of unity, faith, and shared prosperity.

His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Grand Mufti of Uganda, arrived safely in Tehran, Iran, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, to participate as a facilitator in the prestigious international conference themed Holy Qur’an & International Diplomacy.

The high-level gathering has attracted scholars, diplomats, and religious leaders from over 30 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Malaysia, Algeria, Tunisia, and Bosnia.

The conference aims to explore the role of the Holy Qur’an in shaping international relations, fostering diplomacy, and addressing global challenges through Islamic principles.

It provides a platform for dialogue on how Qur’anic teachings can contribute to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and interfaith cooperation in an increasingly complex world.

Mufti Mubaje is accompanied by Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, the Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).

As a respected Islamic leader with a long history of advocating for unity and development, Mufti Mubaje’s presence at the conference underscores Uganda’s commitment to international religious diplomacy and cooperation.

During the sessions, Mufti Mubaje is expected to share insights on Uganda’s experience in promoting interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence among diverse religious communities.

Over the years, he has played a key role in fostering unity within Uganda’s Muslim community and strengthening relations with other religious groups through the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda and other initiatives.

His participation in the conference also reflects Uganda’s growing involvement in global Islamic affairs. In recent years, Ugandan Muslim leaders have engaged in discussions on key religious and developmental issues, including efforts to translate the Holy Qur’an into local languages to enhance accessibility and understanding among Ugandan Muslims.

In a strong show of support for the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Manager of President Museveni’s Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), on Wednesday spearheaded a massive relief distribution campaign, reaching thousands of fasting Muslims in Wakiso District.

The campaign, which began at Masjid Katangawuzi in Nansana, extended to Masjid Taqwa in Kakiri and concluded at Masjid Saeed Al Majdour in Kasangati, where large consignments of essential food supplies were distributed.

The relief packages included rice, posho, spaghetti, sugar, beans, cooking oil, and milk, among other staples, ensuring that Muslim families could observe their fasts without food insecurity.

The initiative fulfilled a pledge Hajjat Namyalo made on Monday evening during an Iftar dinner at Hotel Africana, reaffirming President Museveni’s commitment to supporting communities across the country.

Speaking at each mosque, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and spirituality, urging the Muslim community to uphold the values of Ramadan beyond the fasting period.

“How I wish the calmness, humility, and good behavior you display during fasting were maintained all year round—we would have a more stable society,” she remarked. “Let’s use this time to seek forgiveness from Allah and from those we may have wronged.”

Hajjat Namyalo speaking to fasting muslims

She added, “Today, we have brought a special package from Jajja Kaguta Museveni as support during this fasting period,” reassuring the community of ONC’s dedication to uplifting the Bazzukulu, especially those in need.

Several beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation to President Museveni, the ONC, and Hajjat Namyalo for their generosity during this critical time. Many noted that providing meals during Ramadan is a struggle, and the initiative was a great relief.

“This is a blessing. Many of us had no idea what we would break our fast with tonight, but thanks to President Museveni and ONC, we now have enough to sustain our families,” said a beneficiary who preferred to be identified as Abdul.

At Masjid Taqwa in Kakiri, Shamim Nakawooya, a single mother of four, expressed gratitude, saying the food package came at a time when she was struggling to provide for her children. “May Allah bless Jajja Museveni and Hajjat Namyalo for thinking about us. This support means a lot,” she said emotionally.

Hajjat Namyalo, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor / Political Assistant, announced that President Museveni will soon visit Wakiso District, specifically Kasangati Division, where he will deliver a public lecture on wealth creation.

“The President is coming to teach us how to fight poverty through wealth creation. While ONC is pushing for self-empowerment, that alone is not enough. So, let’s all turn up in big numbers on that day,” she urged.

She also advised the Bazzukulu to be mindful when choosing their leaders, emphasizing that elected officials should align with the ruling government and be capable of lobbying for development projects.

“A leader who only enriches himself without valuing you is not what you deserve. Let’s avoid the mistakes of the 2021 elections and vote wisely,” she cautioned.

The ONC Ramadan giveaway campaign will extend to various areas in the Kampala Metropolitan region and beyond, ensuring more Muslim communities benefit from both relief support and long-term economic empowerment initiatives.

The Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), under the leadership of Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has reaffirmed its commitment to serving communities through a series of impactful initiatives aimed at empowering Ugandans.

The latest effort comes in the form of a Ramadan food distribution drive, a program designed to support the Muslim community during the holy month of fasting.

As Muslims across Uganda observe Ramadan, ONC has stepped forward to ensure that families have access to essential food items for Suhoor and Iftar. The initiative, backed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will kick off in Wakiso District on March 5, 2025, before expanding to other areas within the Kampala Metropolitan region and beyond.

Beneficiaries will receive food supplies such as rice, posho, spaghetti, sugar, beans, cooking oil, and milk, among other necessities. Speaking about the program, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo emphasized the importance of service and solidarity, urging all beneficiaries to embrace the spirit of giving, kindness, and togetherness that defines Ramadan.

This latest initiative is not an isolated effort but part of ONC’s broader mission to uplift communities and strengthen the NRM’s grassroots presence.

Over the past year, ONC has launched multiple projects focused on economic empowerment, youth development, and national cohesion, with significant impact across different regions.

In January 2025, ONC held a large-scale empowerment outreach in Mubende District at Kasana Playgrounds. The event, attended by thousands of residents, focused on providing economic opportunities through skills training and resource distribution.

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo personally handed over startup equipment, including sewing machines, hairdressing tools, and boda bodas, to help local entrepreneurs establish sustainable businesses.

The Mubende outreach was part of the #MzeeKuBallot2026 campaign, reinforcing ONC’s commitment to economic transformation at the grassroots level.

Beyond direct economic support, ONC has also prioritized fostering unity and strengthening relationships with key societal groups.

In December 2024, Hajjat Namyalo spearheaded a nationwide engagement with religious leaders, recognizing their role in shaping communities and guiding national development.

This initiative aimed to ensure that ONC’s message of socio-economic progress reached faith-based institutions while also rallying support for the NRM ahead of the 2026 elections.

By working closely with religious leaders, ONC continues to build bridges and promote national cohesion.

In an effort to address unemployment and economic self-reliance, ONC launched a youth empowerment drive in Kawempe in September 2024. The program, organized in collaboration with the Minister for Kampala City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, provided young people with essential startup tools to enable them to earn a living. Beneficiaries received welding machines, tailoring kits, and catering equipment, among other resources.

The initiative was designed to encourage self-employment and reduce reliance on traditional job markets, offering a pathway to financial independence for young Ugandans.

Earlier in 2024, ONC also made a significant impact in the Bunyoro region by rolling out economic development programs aimed at boosting local enterprises. The initiative provided financial literacy training and vocational skills development, particularly for small-scale farmers and traders.

By equipping residents with the knowledge and resources needed to increase productivity, ONC played a vital role in improving household incomes and fostering economic stability in the region.

These efforts have not gone unnoticed at the highest levels of government. In June 2024, Hajjat Namyalo and the ONC leadership team met with President Museveni to discuss youth empowerment programs and the broader strategy for national development.

The discussions focused on aligning ONC’s initiatives with the government’s economic agenda to ensure that young Ugandans have access to the tools and opportunities needed to build successful futures. This meeting underscored ONC’s integral role in complementing national policies on youth inclusion and economic transformation.

Through these various initiatives, ONC has demonstrated its unwavering dedication to empowering Ugandans, fostering unity, and strengthening the NRM’s presence across the country.

As the 2026 elections draw nearer, these programs continue to uplift communities while reinforcing ONC’s role as a driving force behind Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs (SPA/PA), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, who also serves as the Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), has called on Muslims to maintain discipline and good conduct even after the Ramadan fasting period.

She made remarks while speaking to the media at an Iftar dinner hosted by Centenary Bank at Hotel Africana on Monday evening.

Hajjat Hadijah emphasized the importance of repentance and seeking divine guidance, urging Muslims to continue embodying the values of Ramadan in their daily lives.

“Let us be repentant before the Almighty and seek His protection and sustenance during this period. Those harboring bitterness should let go and continue in this spirit beyond Ramadan,” she urged.

Commending Centenary Bank for organizing the dinner in solidarity with the Muslim community, she acknowledged the importance of such gatherings in promoting unity among Muslim faithful.

The ONC boss also promised to host a similar event, specifically targeting those on the margins of society.

“We shall organize an Iftar for those who struggle to make ends meet,” she announced.

Last year, the ONC supported the Muslim community during Ramadan by distributing food items.

Monday’s dinner was graced by Super Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi, Buganda’s Deputy Katikkiro, and senior officials from Centenary Bank.
